Founded
in Germany in 1884, Rowenta's history is marked
by innovation.
The German Robert Weintraud founded the
company 'Weintraud & Co" and registered
the brand 'Rowenta' in 1909. At this time, the
brand was selling products, which had little in
common with those of today (writing implements,
smokers' accessories, toiletries). Here are a
few highlights from the company's history…
Uncompromising products,
dedicated to their function…
During the 20s, Rowenta brought out their
first range of small, household electrical goods,
consisting of an iron, a toaster, a coffee maker
and a kettle. In 1965, Rowenta was awarded a prize
from the Museum of Modern Art in New York, for,
of all things, a cigarette lighter.
Rowenta has had left its mark on a great many
people with its innovation in the field of linen
care products. For example, in 1949 they would
bring out their first iron to be fitted with a
thermostat, and in 1957 their first steam iron.
In 1974 Rowenta launched their first vacuum cleaners.
From there on inwards, they would play an ever
increasingly important part of the brand, and
even today, continue to be a success story.
Since then they have constantly achieved their
objective, which is the very essence of the company:
to guarantee impeccable results through quality
objects.
Timeless esthetics …
More than ever, Rowenta is committed
to designing powerful and refined products imbued
with a sense of confidence and well-being. As
we enter the third millennium, Rowenta has re-stated
this essential identity with a new logo and new
products devised by world famous designers, putting
intelligence and beauty into vacuum cleaners,
irons, steam generators, ovens, kettles, coffee
machines, espressos and toasters.
